Yogasana is an ancient philosophy, a personal journey of self-discovery and an active form of meditation to quiet the mind and pacify the body. It is an art and a science dating back over 2000 years. The word 'yoga' is from the Sanskrit word 'yuj' meaning 'to join'. The practice of the 8 limbs of yoga aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well-being. the regular practice of yoga has many health benefits, it relaxes and energizes the body and mind and brings vitality, flexibility, strength, concentration, self-confidence and mental calm.
Iyengar Yoga is the system of yoga taught by Sri B.K.S. Iyengar who has been teaching and demonstrating yoga throughout the world for more than 70 years (BKS Iyengar). It is a technique ideally suited to prevent physical and mental illness and to protect the body in general terms, developing an inevitable sense of self-reliance and assurance. This method of yoga is characterized by great attention to detail and focus on alignment, often using props to aid practice. It is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness.
“Yoga is like music, the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” B.K.S Iyengar

At Yab Yum we offer our clients various types of massage ranging from deep-tissue to reiki.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle.
Reflexology
Although reflexology is sometimes called foot massage it is more than simple foot massage. Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points on the feet that correspond to organs and systems in the body. Reflexology is very relaxing, especially for people who are on their feet all day or simply have tired, achy feet.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils distilled from plants, flowers, fruits and trees to treat various physical and emotional conditions. An aromatherapy massage can be used to revitalise or relax, to soothe nerves, ease tension and bring relief to symptoms such as aching muscles, headaches, depression, anxiety and skin conditions. It is also used in the treatment of respiratory, digestive, circulatory and urinary problems.
Indian Head Massage
An invigorating yet relaxing treatment of the face, head, neck, shoulders, upper arms and scalp to relieve tension and inspire well-being. Traditional coconut or sesame oil is used.
Reiki
An ancient healing art used to restore harmony and well-being to the body and mind through the laying on of hands. Reiki is a deeply relaxing, rejuvenating treatment.
Ayur-Yogic Massage
Based on ayurveda and yoga this style of massage uses various stretching techniques and deep tissue manipulation to warm up the muscular system, balance the body's essential elements and improve the blood flow. Cold pressed sesame oil and calamus powder are massaged into the skin, this helps detoxify, stimulate and soften. At the end of the session one feels a sense of deep relaxation, rejuvenation and an increase in vital energy levels.
